Tim Grout-Smith

Tim is a graduate of Oxford University with 26 years' BBC experience. He has reported for BBC radio from more than thirty countries, and edited flagship news programmes for BBC World Service. He's also worked in print and TV journalism.  

As an executive producer, Tim has worked on multi-media educational series and training videos, set up international media festivals, advised governments on public service advertising and lectured on environmental journalism at universities in eleven countries. Fluent in French, with some German and Russian, he co-founded mpi in 2001.

Since then he has worked on projects for all the major international aid donors and trained journalists, students and academics, private and public organisations and charities in the UK and a dozen other countries.

Lily Poberezhska

Lily is a London-based graduate of Kiev State University, a teacher, journalist, media trainer and consultant. She worked for nine years for the BBC World Service, and has a diploma from the London School of Public Relations. Widespread experience in use of the media for education and awareness raising includes work for the World Bank, the EU and the British government in aid projects across the former Soviet bloc and beyond.

Lily worked as reporter/presenter, senior producer, media consultant and trainer on a variety of topics ranging from agriculture and environment to small business and civil society. She is fluent in English, Russian and Ukrainian, with some French and Polish. Lily set up mpi in 2001 after leaving BBC World Service Trust.

Lily's experience in adult education, combined with her journalistic and PR expertise, has helped media players to develop a wide range of successful training packages for a variety of clients in many countries.
